Blogless July

And June too..... :-(

I have completely lost my blogging impetus.  I feel stupid talking to the air.  Maybe its because I have never kept a diary.  Whatever, it feels like I'm bragging; blowing my own trumpet.

Maybe my blogging MoJo will come back sometime soon.  Who knows.

My quilting MoJo is in full swing and I have been creating like crazy.  Do they work in opposition?  If I feel like writing, does that mean that my creativity is low and I'm replacing it with blogging?  And vice versa?

Anyway, so that this is not a completely photoless post here are a couple of things I have made lately.

This is a knitted door stop made for the church stall later this year....

This top on my design floor I made in a frenzy of piecing from my humungous pile of 2.5" strips.

I enjoyed the Scrap Dance Quickstep (see here for more) so much that I just kept piecing and piecing and piecing those strip sets, and so this emerged.

Trouble is that I keep ferreting around and replenishing that pile of 2.5" strips beside my machine, so it doesn't get any smaller!  Guess I'll have to get stuck into some more strip sets. LOL.

Til next time.....Keep on stitching.

  1. LOVE your chicken doorstop! Your Scrap Dance Quickstep looks a lot like my Growing Up Odd colors. I quilted it in orange and it came out really cool. You can see it at: http://maxinegiveaways.blogspot.com/2014/10/growing-up-odd-quilt-finish.html

  3. Great to hear from you - you are not talking to air!! It is lovely to see what you have been working on and I love the chicken doorstop. Keep blogging and keep creating - it's not bragging it's sharing. xx

  4. I love the blue Greek key design emerging from the multi-coloured collection of squares.
As long as a few of us are reading you're not talking to air! And we enjoy seeing what you're working on (and maybe using your ideas!) and the glimpses we get of life on the other side of the planet!

  5. I understand the lack of blogging mojo - and I do think it's related to one's creativity being spent in other endeavors. I do enjoy reading about your adventures, either on the road or in the sewing room! PS - the chicken doorstop is too cute!

  6. So happy to hear from you. I missed you! But I understand. Sometimes, taking a vacation from something we do is just what we need. (I'm trying to take a vacation from the dishes, but it is not working so well. lol) I'll still be here whenever you decide to write. You are not talking to air. :^)
This is the cutest door stopper I've ever seen. Also love the top on your design floor. Keep adding 2.5 strips because you are making beautiful quilts with them. And please, don't stop bragging. My ears aren't bent yet! ;^)

  7. Bragging is not a word I would use for blogging unless you pumped out a finished quilt every day or 2.......

  11. Great to see you back Dasha. I wouldn't worry about the hiatus, it seems we all need a break from blogging now and then. I've struggled with losing my blogging mojo a few times too. It does return... Nice to see your recent projects. Love the knit chicken, and the scrappy quilt.

  12. Thank you for sharing your thoughts here Dasha... it's not easy to do... but I'm sure you see already from previous comments that there's no judgement here, or pressure... I always think of blogging as the 'bonus' & a forum in which to share my hobby with like-minded people, NOT the place I show off the things I make just so I can blog them, if you know what I mean.
We all fall into a bit of funk with blogging sometimes... you just keep sewing what you love xx

  13. Sharing your ideas and your projects are inspiration to readers, don't worry about how often you post, we will be here when you do! Sometimes taking a bit of time off is a good thing, we all need to recharge the batteries now and then.

  14. Those are both gorgeous. The quilt top is so happy :) And I ADORE that chicken. I made a few chickens, but they were not a good pattern -- very squashy and didn't hold their shape well. But that's an impression chicken. And very BLUE :) haha! Can you share where the pattern came from? I'd consider making some.
